Synopsis

The event starts with a quote and the story of a man named Il Cervo, narrated by someone who wishes to be reborn as a deer in his next live and, therefore, wants to study their insides to understand how their body will work.

After this, Sensei finds Ami playing a card game with Kaori and is invited to join their session. He takes a seat, and Kaori explains the rules – All players get two cards with words written on them, and they have to tell a story with them. If Kaori thinks it's good, they will be rewarded with a gold star, but if she doesn't like it, they will get a faceless elf instead.

Wanting a demonstration first, Ami decides to continue her story, which is about a girl with deer parts who uses a corset to fit with other humans, but since it damages her deer parts, her parents used a pendulum to make her fall asleep and let her deer parts be replaced with human parts in a hospital to solve the issue. Kaori rewards her story with a faceless elf, claiming that the story was too sad, and only happy stories are worthy of a star.

It's Sensei's turn, and his words are saline, i.e. saltwater, and baleen, i.e. the keratin plates that can be found in the upper jaws of certain whales, so he comes up with the story of a whale that was unseen and forgotten by the world, but it's cry was so loud that it caught the attention of a bigger whale, who was woken up by the cry and emerged from the planet's core in fury. The bigger whale demanded from the forgotten whale that it doesn't eat anything without his permission, but instead of being intimidated, the forgotten whale was happy to finally be seen by someone and decided to stick with the one being that is aware of his existence. The bigger whale was annoyed by his presence, yet allowed the forgotten whale to follow him back to the core, effectively becoming the planets second core. This story also gains a faceless elf, because Kaori doesn't see a sad beginning and a happy ending as enough to deem it a good story.

Sensei wants to know what makes a story good, and Kaori says that it comes down to feelings – The same way you can tell something is soft by touching it with your hand, stories have to touch someone in a similar way to be deemed worthy of stars that can be traded for a wish. Sensei wonders what Ami's wish would be, and she would wish for the return of the moon from wherever it went, which according to Kaori is the inside of a whale.

Kaori explains that things are the way they are for a reason, and how the return of the moon would disturb the world's order and can cause massive, unforeseen consequences, therefore it's impossible to break this universal law. Sensei wonders what would happen if someone does manage to break this law, and while Kaori claims it can't be broken, he stays unconvinced.
