Synopsis

Remembering that he made plans with Touka, Sensei gives her a call. However, his first attempt to invite her quickly turns awkward due to Sensei's usual behavior and he ends the call.

On his second attempt, he apologizes for what happened and asks her when they want to meet up, but Touka can't give an answer since she still doesn't know where they're going and also wasn't sure if he would call her at all. She then claims that she's already awake for hours to be ready for today, but when Sensei points out the inconsistency, she reveals it was a failed attempt at sarcasm and she actually just left the bath, with him resisting making a comment. She appreciates his rare showcase of maturity even it makes her feel lonely, but before he can ask why, she quickly says they can meet in an hour at the vending machine, and Sensei knows which one she was referring to as they only had one significant interaction in front of one.

Sensei gets ready and while leaving, he notices Ami watching TV in the living room, which he sees as a good sign, but lies about the reason he's leaving, not because he has to hide it but rather out of habit.

45 minutes later, he meets up with Touka, and while she's impressed by his apparent eagerness to spend time with her, he quickly kills the mood by admitting he just skipped getting a coffee on the way and denying that this is a date, as he tends to deny it when he's starting to get closer with someone. Confused by his feelings and the circumstances that created their meeting, Touka just declares it a date and tells Sensei to internally accept it. After some chatter about their first "date", as well as her setting some rules on how long he can appreciate her looks, they finally go on their way so no one realizes what's going on.

Since Sensei didn't bother to actually make plans for the day, both are wandering around the urban district to find something. Touka points out that he could've picked one of the many museums they passed by, but when he tells her that he doesn't care about museums, she blatantly reminds him that his interest are meaningless for the duration of the day as he has to prove that he's worthy of her support and capable of supporting her needs if or when she needs it, which he intends to do since he doesn't want to lose her. During this, he claims that taking care of him is a chore, with her agreeing that he's bot a chore and a pain, though he is the reason she's able to understand what pain is and also how it can feel good at times, with Sensei feeling like some of her phrasing is intentional.

After walking through a park where Touka gave generous tips to street performers and finding a restaurant, Sensei contemplates the fact that Touka's generosity is both a blessing and a curse, as it would make her easy to manipulate. While he would've abused that fact before, he won't do it now as he needs something from her that is tied to the way he sees her.

Touka reveals that she knows about him meeting her mother recently, but he doesn't want to tell her anything they discussed as she either doesn't need to know or already does. Touka explains that her mother can and will withhold information from her and that she has other ways to learn what happens inside her home, including her eyes, yet wants to hear from him what business he has with her mother, though Sensei tries to avoid giving an answer. After some back and forth, Touka asks Sensei to not let Tsubasa get too involved in their affairs as she tends to interfere with everything and when he continues to indulge her curiosity, she will continue to do so. When he asks why she doesn't do it herself, she states she can't since she has to do that not as an heir of the Tuskioka's but as her daughter, and as such she basically has nothing that could make her mother stop interfering with her personal life.

Sensei suggests she should give it another try instead of asking him to convince Tsubasa to stop, but Touka doesn't see the point when she already tried and failed. He tells her that he will have even lees of a chance than her, because Tsubasa has already information about him she could use to harm him and he doesn't know her enough to tell if she would use it. Surprised that he would let himself be bossed around by someone, Touka realizes she knows enough about him too and could also ask things from him, though he points out that she already might do that since their date almost qualifies for this.

She acknowledges this, yet wonders what her limits might be.
