The class boards the bus headed for the beach, ready to begin their routine beach trip and the "annual" Dorm Wars competition. While Sensei usually looks forward to their beach trips, he’s unable to feel excited this time as he’s too worried about the shorter intervals between and the increased frequency of the class's big events. He laments the inevitability of his life becoming more complicated and how it'll no doubt suffocate him further and further.
Across the bus are various groups in various conversations:
Sensei and Imani sit next to each other and talk about the former's status as a "prize". After complaining about feeling neglected by the class, Imani fills him in about their accommodations. Additionally, she informs him that Wakana will be joining the two of them so she can announce the results of the poetry contest, with Imani warning Sensei that he's bound to be on the receiving end of her fury for breaking his promise to participate. He assures her he'll be fine and the two finish the ride in silence.
Molly, Ami, and Sana are all sitting next to each other, with all but Ami in the middle of playing video games. Ami's surprised when she notices Sana's game is much more intense than her usual choices. Sana explains that Rin recently got her into shooters and she's been trying to get better at them, with Molly adding that Sana's probably always had a disposition towards violence considering her character during D&D nights. Taking a break from playing, Sana asks Ami why she's not with Ayane and Maya, with Ami vaguely explaining that things seem tense between them right now. The two girls assure Ami things will work out before changing topics to help distract her.
Noriko and Karin wrap up a conversation about animals, with Noriko noting how pleasant Karin's trademark wholesomeness is. Karin's confused by this assertion and is subsequently hurt when Kirin "clarifies" that Noriko means she's boring. Noriko insists that isn't true, but Karin acknowledges how reserved she is, explaining that many of her teammates stated the same. She has plenty of complaints or unkind thoughts, but rather than vocalizing them, she prefers keeping them to herself because it keeps them special. This explanation further irritates Kirin for being so "pure", so she derails the conversation by mentioning Noriko's visit to Sensei's place. This causes Karin to be stun locked by embarrassment and the three fall into silence.
Yasu admires the weather, asking Touka if she's excited about the upcoming competitions. Once Yasu snaps her out of her thoughts, Touka confirms she's excited, mostly since it's a break from school, her meetings at the manor and managing her new complex. Yasu wonders if she can see it one day, with Touka reconfirming that she can visit once her room's done. Yasu thanks Touka for allowing her to live there and also for putting up with someone as "insignificant" as her. Touka tells her not to put herself down so much as she's overcome plenty of difficulties in such a short amount of time. Yasu retorts that life is nothing but obstacles, but that overcoming them will make everyone stronger, with Touka hoping she's right.
Maya tries to coax Ayane, who’s still deeply traumatized from a recent revelation, into hanging out with Ami before she gets suspicious, but Ayane refuses to budge. Her attempts at getting Ayane to sympathize also fail to do anything but cast suspicion on herself instead. Out of ideas, Maya awkwardly offers to give Ayane a hug instead. She turns the idea down but admits that hearing how concerned Maya is makes her feel better.
