Synopsis

Io and Uta are sitting in their room, with Uta trying to make Io tell her what's tormenting her so she can cheer her up again, but Io reminds her that they can't help each other with certain aspects of their pasts. Uta wonders if her mother came back, but Io retorts that she would've called her to get rid of a body if she did, and clarifies that something else happened to bring her past up and she has to deal with the aftermath, though she has to do it alone since she won't tell Uta anything about it to not upset her.

Tsuneyo and Miku return from the beach with a crab they found while playing in the sand. Tsuneyo wants to make dinner out of it and asks Uta and Io if they will participate. After getting confirmation from Uta, who overrules Io's refusal of the offer, Tsuneyo goes to the kitchen with Miku, though the crab latches onto Miku's finger on the way.

Now alone, Uta accepts that Io won't tell her about what happened but begs her to tell her when she reaches a point where she can't bear it anymore, which Io promises to do. With her drama out of the way, Io wants to talk about Uta's current dilemma and has to remind her that Sensei still has one of her old pictures. However, Uta doesn't see it as a big deal, which confuses Io since other people having her pictures is the main reason why her life sucks, but Uta confesses her feelings for Sensei, which is why she doesn't mind him having a picture of her.

Io has a hard time believing her due to her long list of weird former crushes, but Uta states how this one is different, how she has liked him for a long time and that she can't hold herself back any longer. She apologizes for letting it happen, but Io isn't angry that she has feelings for him but that she never told her about them, as it would've make her plan for them more realistic and doable. Uta still rejects this, though, and while she initially did because she thought it was insane, now she does because it's not what she wants – She wants to be the only one for him and vice versa.

However, she would ignore her desire if it allows Io to stay with her, but Io tells her to not bother keeping someone around who drags her down and focus on building herself a happy life, because Uta deserves one way more than she does. She also claims she has no chance to win him over, anyway, and while Uta tries to assure her that she can win him if she tries, Io doesnNeverender t share her optimism.

Suddenly, Miku comes out to inform them that dinner's ready, and both girls agree to postpone that discussion.

Trivia

• There's variation in the dialogue depending on Sensei's decision in Stomachache.
  • If he picked "Destroy her", Io is her usual pessimistic, self-deprecating self and, after what happened, she fully believes that she can't have a future with Sensei.
  • If he picked "Go home", Io is only confused due to her having faced something she never expected, yet she's feeling happy bottling her feelings up for once in her life. However, it doesn't boost her confidence when it comes to her chances with Sensei.
