First Appearance |
Teacher is a character in Lessons In Love. She is an important figure from Sensei's past.
Background
Due to her being an important figure from Sensei's past, and Sensei suffering from amnesia, a lot of details about her are obfuscated through surreal imagery or otherwise completely lost. The following details are extreme spoilers about the story of Lessons in Love.
What can be discerned, though, is that her real name is Sekai Arakawa. She is the mother of Ami Arakawa, the wife of Nozomu Arakawa, and the sister-in-law of Sensei. It is implied that, in life, she was a school teacher with a passionate love for poetry. At some indeterminable point, she pushed Sensei into a physically and emotionally abusive relationship. It is unknown when this started and when, or even if, it ended.
Sometime before the events of Lessons in Love, Sekai and her husband were the victims of a tragic car accident, killing the two of them and orphaning their daughter.
Characteristics
Sekai's appearances are often brief and very sudden, leaving little time to fully grasp her personality. This is made even more difficult by the ambiguous status of her supposed "revival", making the delineation between which traits are true aspects of her personality nearly impossible.
What can be determined, though, is that she was an avid fan of William Shakespeare, often quoting or making allusions to his work. She's also seems to be very playful, often making quips or sarcastic jokes towards Sensei or about her status of being dead.
Relationships
Sensei
Sekai's relationship with Sensei is very complicated. While Sensei seems to harbor a lot of complex and confusing feelings towards her, Sekai herself often approaches him with playfulness and flirtatious quips. She enjoys pointing out flaws in Sensei's personality, but doesn't seem to view them as inherently negative, seemingly agreeing with the sentiment expressed by Nodoka during Lavender.
Ami
Ami is Sekai's daughter, and the two have almost no in-game interactions. The most important of these sparse moments is seen in one of Sensei and Ami's visits to the graveyard. During which, Sekai expresses a gentle motherly disposition, complimenting her daughter for both her growth as a person and her appearance.
When Ami was a child, Sekai would often sing the song "Daisy Bell" to her. Additionally she, along with Sensei, would often read aloud various plays by William Shakespeare, usually while acting them out.
