In class, the girls have to study for the upcoming standardized tests. Uta struggles with the material while Io tries to help her, though fails due to Uta’s lack of interest and her general learning problems, and Sensei is slacking off as usual. Suddenly, Ayane appears near Uta’s desk and wants to start Operation: Firestarter. While she makes it sound like they want to commit arson, Uta knows that she’s referring to their plan for the class and agrees now is the best time to execute it. Ignoring protests from Makoto and Io, the girls initiate the first step of their plan – usurping Sensei and taking control of the class.
After they forced Sensei to take a seat at a students desk, Uta and Ayane announce their plan for the entire class. At first, they planned to have a bonding exercise for both floors, but they realized that both floors see themselves as superior, so they instead decided to have a friendly competition to prove which floor actually is. The two girls name themselves the captain of their respective floors, but Makoto vetoes the idea, claiming they can’t afford a competition with the standardized tests coming up and don’t need one since the first floor is obviously the superior one. Ayane predicted her reaction down to her very words and already made a contingency plan to secure her cooperation. She offers her the role of the captain of the first floor, which manages to win her over.
While Makoto now agrees with their reasoning, she feels like both floors need a prize worth competing over, and both girls have a prize that most of them would willingly compete for. They announce Sensei as the prize, more specifically the opportunity to have a sleepover with him during the upcoming beach trip. They ask Sensei if he agrees to this terms, mostly out of courtesy since they don’t care about his opinion on this, and he accepts them before the girls kick him out of the classroom so they can plan the competitions.
